Full-Time Legal Assistant for Criminal & Traffic Law Practice Area (Leesburg, VA)

Simms Showers LLP is currently seeking a well-qualified applicant for a legal admin assistant for our Criminal & Traffic Law Practice Area. The position involves being the first point of contact for clients and providingadministrative support to our criminal and traffic law attorneys with several dozen combined active cases.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is a logical and organized individual who is a skilled multitasker. This person excels in a fast-paced environment, handles external stress well (situational and relational) and can maintain a courteous and professional demeanor under pressure. The ideal candidate should be able to think critically about the merits of potential cases and creatively problem-solve when encountering challenges. The ideal candidateshould be very well organized and able to keep track of multiple different cases at once, as well as keep track ofpayments from clients. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent writing and editing skills are required.
Required Skills:
- Experience with Microsoft office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams)
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills (but not necessary):
- Spanish proficiency or fluency
- Administrative/law office experience
Pay is negotiable based on qualifications and experience. This position can be full time or part time, depending on availability. Benefits included for full time positions. 2-year minimum commitment requested.

Intern
Simms Showers LLP is an AV rated, growing 13-attorney law firm with offices in Leesburg, VA, Winchester, VA and Baltimore, MD. We serve a wide variety of clients including numerous Christian ministries, churches, businesses, and individuals throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and nationwide.
We are currently seeking a student who is interested in law to work as an in-office part time intern for 15-20 hours per week during the school year and 40 hours per week during the summer, starting September 2021. This position would be for the fall and spring semester of 2021-2022, summer semester and beyond if desired; those willing to commit to a year or beyond will be more highly considered. There is the option of working for school credit and/or compensation.
Duties would include:
- Filing and organizing legal documents into correct client folders
- Scanning and archiving old client folders to be saved in our database
- Answering and directing phone calls to the correct recipient
- Mailing and/or filing legal documents for various attorneys at Loudoun County Courthouse
- Possible legal research projects for various attorneys
- Other duties will vary as the need arises
