This position would require at least a one-year commitment and those willing to work for longer durations will be prioritized. This role focuses on preparing and managing charitable solicitation registrations, renewals, and exemptions for nonprofit clients in multiple jurisdictions. Working closely with CSR paralegal and attorney, this position requires timely and accurate compliance filing and reporting with state charitable solicitation laws, and support of the firm’s commitment to providing high-quality regulatory services. This individual would also assist nonprofit organizations with a variety of legal services including incorporation, IRS tax exemption applications, and various nonprofit general legal matters.

Job Duties Include:

  • State Filings & Compliance: Prepare, review, and submit charitable solicitation registrations,
renewals, exemptions, and extensions in applicable states; monitor entity status and maintain ongoing compliance.

  • Jurisdictional Research: Research state charitable solicitation laws, filing procedures, agency requirements, and regulatory updates affecting client compliance.

  • Tracking & Recordkeeping: Maintain compliance calendars, filing databases, deadline trackers, confirmations, renewal statuses, state requirements, and fee information across jurisdictions.

  • Agency Liaison: Communicate with state charity regulators to resolve discrepancies, respond to information requests, and confirm registration approvals.

  • Attorney Support: Assist attorneys with client reports, filing records, and related corporate or tax-exempt matters, including annual reports, registered agent changes, IRS Form 990 coordination, and nonprofit legal filings.

  • Office Support: Answering and directing phone calls as needed. Mailing out various letters and filings, organizing client folders

Other duties as assigned by the Senior Church Non-Profit Paralegal or Attorneys.
